Flourless Banana Chocolate Oat Bread
My family and I love this bread so much. It just tastes so hearty (because of the oats) and yummy thanks to the banana and chocolate, of course. So when it starts to get warm out, we tend to gravitate away from the hot bowl of morning oats and we make this deliciousness.
So many variations here, you can use all natural creamy peanut butter or sunflower seed butter instead of the almond butter. You can use any sugar you have on hand too. You can also omit the chocolate and add in walnuts instead.

Flourless Banana Chocolate Oat Bread
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 2 medium ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup almond butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350° F. Line a 9×5" loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Using a food processor or blender, first grind up your oats until they resemble a flour consistency. Next add in the bananas, almond butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Process until smooth. Toss in your chocolate and mix with a spoon. Transfer your batter to the pan and top wit a few more chocolate chips for aesthetic. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. I LOOSELY covered mine with foil the last 10 minutes because it was browning rapidly.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes prior to slicing.
If I don’t have almond butter, is there any other options that I can substitute?
Hi! You can sub in creamy peanut butter, sunflower seed butter…
Hi Stella,
Can I use maple syrup instead of coconut sugar?
Hi Sandra, That would throw off the recipe since the syrup is a wet ingredient and the coconut sugar is a dry ingredient. You can try increasing a dry ingredient to offset the wet, however, I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure what works.
OMG i could literally eat the batter 😍😍😍
Can I sub monk fruit for coconut sugar?
I don’t have coconut sugar, , is there any other options that I can substitute?
Thoroughly enjoyed this recipe, thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Its my pleasure!

Glad it was a hit! Thanks for the rating!!
Looks delicious 👌
Thanks Maka! It was so good!
Hi 👋
Thank you for the great recipe! Was wondering can I use any other sweetener, like honey?
Hi Liliana, You could try subbing in honey but that would increase the overall wet ingredients. You would have to increase a dry ingredient to offset it. I haven’t tried it and therefore can’t say for sure…
This IS the BEST recipe EVER for folks looking for HEALTHY treats. I made it just as recipe suggested the first time. Delicious! Then I decided to do SUGAR FREE so I substituted Brown Sugar Swerve , eliminated the chocolate chips and added a handful of raisins and 1/4 cup of pecans. SO HEALTH. SO GOOD. I shared the recipe with a friend and she added chopped apple which made it SO moist. Next we are going to be trying blueberry loaf. We are now doing two loafs at a time as they do NOT last.
Hi Carolyn, Two loafs at a time sounds about right to me!! Thanks for including the substitutions you made for everyone to consider!
I can’t wait to get started! Your recipes look so very good. Thank you for all your hard work!🤗
Hi Gloria! That’s very kind of you! I hope you enjoy every recipe you make!
Looks delicious
Hi Ada, thank you! it is so yummy!
Can I replace the ripe banana with a non ripe banana (I have IBS and ripe bananas are a trigger). Also can I use Stevia sugar?
Hi Sharon, Yes, you can use regular bananas, the loaf might not be as sweet but it will still work. If the recipe calls for a liquid sweetener then dry sugar won’t work…
Hi,
I used Stevia and it still turned out really good.
I love this banana bread. It’s so easy to make and healthy! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Tatiana, Its my pleasure! Thank you for trying out the banana bread and I appreciate you taking the time to comment and rate!
I happened to come across this recipe on Facebook. Since we have bananas and the ingredients, I made it. At first, it was odd that butter or oil was not included in the ingredients but I still tried.
I substituted the coconut sugar with stevia and the almond butter with peanut butter. Still, it turned out excellent.
I was thinking if I could use cream cheese instead of almond/peanut butter so the flavor will be neutral and not a nutty taste.
I will for sure make this again! Thanks for sharing this recipe that is gluten-free and flourless. Just wow!
Hi CC, glad you happened upon the recipe and tried it! I’m also grateful for the tips you shared with us! Thank you!
Great recipe!!!
My picky family loved it!
The second time I made it I accidentally blended the chocolate chips, also I used a muffin tin, they came out great!!!
HI Gloria! Sounds great with the blended chocolate – upgrade!!!
Can this be made in a bread machine?
So great of having this recipe. Thank you so much for this. God bless
Hi Janice! Thanks for trying the recipe!! You rock!
Planning to make today. Does this work as muffins?
Thank you
Hi Rhonda, YES, you can bake in a muffin tray, just decrease the bake time to 22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Made this today and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! Such an easy and great recipe ! Thank you very much , Stella!
hi! thank you for sharing this great recipe. I’ve tried this multiple times and it always turns out great. I know it says “flourless banana bread” but I just run out of rolled oats and I only have APF and cake flour. how much APF can I use?
this is not the one l saw on Facebook. it said to soak the oats in milk and add cocoa powder, etc. I can’t find that on your sight
Here it is:

Guite yummy.Thanks
Can the oats be substituted for something else? Can’t tolerate oats
Hi Orla, you can skip the blender and just use 1/2 cup flour
Thankyou!
This is delicious!
Is it suitable for freezing?
Hi Christine, yes it is!
Hi Stella, I made this banana bread today with white chocolate chips and added pecans. It is so good I ate half of it already.

Hi Evy, sounds so delicious with the white chocolate and pecans! Yes I remember you! Hope you’re well <3 <3
Tried this recipe for a pre workout snack and it’s absolutely delicious. Will make this every week as my kid loved it too ❤️ Thanks for the recipe.
Hi Pravalikia, so happy it was a winner with everyone! Thanks for the kind rating!
So good!
So good! The only thing I did differently was using regular white sugar vs coconut and peanut butter vs almond, but it turned out great! I should’ve heeded the recommendation to cover for the last 10 min because it did get a bit brown, but nothing too bad. Will definitely make again soon!
Thank you!
Hi Tiffany, glad the bread was enjoyed and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! Cheers!
