Healthy Banana Oatmeal Bread (5 Ingredients)
I’m always on the lookout for quick simple snacks that require very few ingredients that are all whole and you probably already have in your kitchen. This definitely hits those spots.

I’m going to greatly stress to you that this is not a traditional banana bread recipe. As you can tell from the ingredient list, it contains a very minimal amount of sweetener. If you would like a traditional banana bread recipe, please check out my delicious Super Moist Banana Bread. You will not be disappointed.

What you can do, is toss in sugar free chocolate chips, nuts, raisins or seeds to add some flavor. To finish this snack off, I like to serve it with some almond or peanut butter spread on top. Again, this is a protein and nutrient dense snack. And comes together so quickly in your blender or food processor. You can also use oat flour and mix the ingredients in a bowl.

Healthy Banana Oatmeal Bread
Ingredients
- 3 medium bananas, over ripe
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
Optional Add Ins:
- 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1/2 cup chopped dates or raisins
Instructions
- PLEASE NOTE: This is not a traditionally sweet banana bread. There is minimal sweetener used here. This is a healthy breakfast or snack.
- Preheat oven to 350° F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Add all of the ingredients, in the order above, to your blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Mixture will be liquidy and that's okay.
- Pour the batter into your pan and bake for around 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out mostly clean. Allow bread to cool in the pan at least 20 minutes prior to transferring to cooling rack. And then allow to cool another 20 minutes prior to slicing.
LOVE this bread! I did not add anything additional, just enjoyed as is. I actually prefer a snack that is not too sweet, so this was perfect. I like it so much better than a basic banana bread.
Hi Kathy! I feel the same way! Glad you enjoyed it too! Thank you for the review!
Love this with my tea in the morning for a light breakfast. Not to sweet which is great!
Hi Carol! I’m the same way – I like my breakfast breads to be lightly sweet!
Hi Stella,
I followed this recipe exact same but maybe I blended the ingredients too much and it was liquidy so the inside wasnt baked properly. The taste was amazing but I had to throw it away as the more I kept it in the oven, the outside burnt.
Thanks
Hi Cookie, I’m so sorry it didnt work out! If i need to bake something extra time, I cover it LOOSELY with tin foil. Hope that helps!
This banana bread recipe is amazingly simple and so delicious! Will try to add next time nuts and chocolate chips. But this basic recipe is going to my recipe book to do very often. Thank you!
Can I use 1 minute oatmeal?
Made this today for my family as a quick breakfast. It is so tasty and so moist! I added some cinnamon and nutmeg for a little spice and it was amazing!
Hi I wanted you know if I can try quick oats?
I did, and it was fine!
This banana bread was simple to make and so delicious!! Will add some chocolate chips or walnuts next time, this is going to be my go to banana bread. Thank you for the recipe!
Hi Matena, I’m happy you enjoyed the recipe! Thank you for leaving the review!
can I sub yogurt or Greek yogurt for the eggs ?
Made this !! Tastes so good !! My bananas were overripe and I only has about 1 tbsp of honey – but this needed nothing else. So nice not to have it over sweetened.
Cooked for the exact amount of time too.
So easy to follow – super easy to make.
So so good.
Thanks for sharing – this is my new go to recipe
Hi! Do you use the same amount of oat flour that you would use for the oat meal (2 cups)?
HI Gail, I would do 1 1/2 cups oat flour for the 2 cups oats.
Can you use steel cut oats?
Hi Linda, might require more liquid with steel cut oats.
Would I be able to add protein powder? if so, howw much would you suggest?
BTW….I looove your recipies. thank you.🙏
Hi Terrie, I think 1/4 cup should work here.. please let us know what happens and thank you for the support!!
I made this today after seeeing your TikTok video. Mine turned out chewy and dense. I. Your video it looks like you used 1tbsp of B.soda. In your recipe it says 1tsp. Could this be why mine did not turn out as dry and loose as yours? Can you clarify on the baking sofa amount please 🙂
Hi Christy, Its definitely 1 teaspoon baking soda – I double checked the video and know that spoon well. I’m so sorry it didn’t work out well for you!
Can you substitute the eggs?
HI Karen, haven’t tried any alternatives, I’m sorry. Flax could work here!
Could you use flax egg instead of eggs to make it vegan?
Hi Mary, Flax eggs should work here. I havent personally tried it with this recipe but ive used flax eggs before and they work every time!
I have just made this (adding a few nuts and cinnamon to the recipe) absolutely delicious!
HI Nicky, glad you liked it and thanks so much for the kind rating!
Could this work with bananas that aren’t overripe yet?
Yes definitely!!
Great recipe. Made a batch. Came out beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Love more easy healthy recipes like this.
Hi Sylvia, glad it was enjoyed and I plan on definitely sharing more healthy dishes! Thank you!
This bread was delicious. I made 2 loaves. I put 1 packet of truvia to add a bit of sweetness. Thank you. It was so easy to make. Will definitely be my go to banana bread recipe!!
Hi Laura, glad you tried it and thanks for sharing your versions with us!
This has no business being so tasty when it’s so easy to make! Absolutely delicious, I followed the recipe but also added 1/4 cup vanilla protein powder and sprinkled the top with sunflower seeds and cinnamon before popping it into the oven. Thanks for another winning recipe, Stella!
Delicious 😋
Healthy is the word. I did like the bread. I added Lilly’s Chocolate Chips, dark chocolate. No sugar added. I used a regular blender. So I found the consistency with mind not as smooth as I would have liked or it should have been. My chest to the mix was 3 package of sweet and lie, which I do believe helped bring a slight sweetness to the bread. By no means is it sweet. It reminds me of a bread that could be accompanied with tea or coffee. I will do this one again too, but with a different mixer. Not bad at all
Just made this and it turned out pretty good. Adjust the ingredients a tiny bit. No honey or syrup, instead added a 33g scoop of vanilla protein powder as it’s already sweetened with Stevia. I added the optional vanilla extract, also added 30 g of flaxseed mill, and 28 g of semisweet chocolate chips. Came out a little dense but moist enough to heat up and add some almond butter 😄
Delicious!
Hi Javier, glad you enjoyed the bread!!! And thank you for sharing your feedback with us!! Cheers!
looks nice and delicious. would it be OK to bake in air fryer?
Hi Alexandra, yes, will work in the air fryer
You are one amazing woman. I love all your recipes and how easy you make it. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the kind message!
Simply delicious. Made a few tweaks. Added nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Included vanilla, walnuts and raisins. Blended old fashioned oats to make “oat flour” and added to wet ingredients in a bowl. Finally used muffin pan instead of loaf pan. Definitely will be making again. Thank you.
Hi Dee, glad you tried it and liked it! Thanks so much for sharing your tips on the recipe!
I made your banana oat bread today and have to say how pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I found it to be the perfect level of sweetness although I did add 1/2 cup of dates. I also took your suggestion and added vanilla and cinnamon as who doesn’t love that combo when baking!! This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thank you Stella.
Hey Paula, sounds amazing with dates- my favorite add in by far!
Love love this recipe. One Q is it ok to freeze and for how long ?
Hi Ivana, yes you can freeze for up to 3 months! Thank you !!
Decided to make this after seeing your TikTok video and was very pleased! Super easy to make and took no time at all, was curious to know if you what peanut butter spread you put in it though?
HI Claire, I use Trader Joe’s all natural peanut butter. Salted. The only ingredient is peanuts (and salt).
Can I use quinoa flour instead of oats ?
Hi Lotica, it should work out with quinoa flour!
This is SO good. We enjoyed a slice this morning. i used honey that has a low glycemic index. We put a little peanut butter on top. Delicious. Thanks.
Hi Nan, thank you for trying out the banana bread!
How do you store this? In the fridge or on the counter in a container?
Hi Jaime, I store this on my counter in an airtight container!
Perfect, thank you!
Made this and love it! Was wondering if anyone has tried adding blueberries???
Hi Brooke, definitely go for the blueberries with this!
hi would the recipe be effected if instead of using honey i use apple jam? thank you
Hi Miriam sounds like it will work to me!
This was awesome. Made as per your directions. Added vanilla, cinnamon and some nuts. Love that it is not too sweet. Thanks so much, it will be a staple in our house.
HI Debbie, glad you tried it and liked it! Thanks for sharing your experience with the bread!
Lovely!!! Just baked one!!
HI Rex, glad it was a winner for you! Thanks for the rating!
I am vegetarian. What can I substitute egg with?
Flax egg should work or 1/4 cup applesauce
Delicious and healthy! Loved it.
HI Gaby, thanks so much for trying it and the kind rating!
This recipe has me feeling like I discovered treasure! Thank you for sharing this with the world, it’s definitely going into my recipe book!!
HI Lane, I know what you mean! I feel the same way!
Delicious. My husband smelled it coming home from work and was so excited to try this bread. Then he said, “It’s really good and it tastes almost healthy too!” Nailed it. I added the cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, and some chopped pecans. So yummy and easy. Can’t wait for today’s slice!
Hi Charisse, your version sounds heavenly! Glad the hubby enjoyed too!
Mine looks nothing like the photo :/ . Toothpick came out clean and I left it in the pan. But it went flat as it cooled and when I cut into it looks dense and gummy.
Hi Irene, i’m so sorry it didnt work for you!
Love the flavor, but mine keeps turning out ‘rubbery’ on the sides…I’ve tried cooking it less…I’m down to 35 minutes, and may try 30 minutes to cook, next time.
so simple, and tasty
Hi Robyn, thanks for trying it!
Soooo good
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for trying the loaf out!
you sure know how to make fast & delicious snacks!
Hi Diana, I enjoy it very much! Thanks for trying out the recipe!
