Healthy Twix Cups (Vegan)
When I saw these pop up on my page I had to try them! They looked just like the candy bar version but with all healthier ingredients. They literally blew us away. I think we scarfed them all down in 30 minutes.

These are super simple with a total of only 7 ingredients, to throw together in the morning and just be patient, and let them set in the freezer for 2 hours. You will not be disappointed!! The center literally tastes like caramel and the base like a yummy cookie. If you like these, you will love my viral NO BAKE 6 INGREDIENT PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE OAT CUPS!!

Healthy Twix Cups
Equipment
Ingredients
Base:
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 tbs protein powder or coconut flour
- 3 tbs maple syrup
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Caramel Layer:
- 1/3 cup peanut butter (or almond butter)
- 3 tbs maple syrup
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Chocolate Topping:
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tsp olive oil
Instructions
Base:
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ Spray a mini muffin tray with oil or use a silicone mini muffin tray and skip the oil.
- Mix all of the base ingredients in a small bowl using a fork. Divide the mixture evenly to the muffin tray, filling about 1/3 full. Press down gently so there is flat top. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Caramel Layer:
- In a small bowl, whisk together all of the caramel layer ingredients until smooth. Once the base layer has completely cooled, dollop on the caramel (about 1 tsp to each) and flatten out the tops with a small spoon.
Chocolate Layer:
- Melt the chocolate chips with the oil over low heat, stirring constantly to avoid burning the chocolate. Pour the chocolate to fill the tops of each cup. Transfer the muffin tray to your freezer and allow to set for 2 hours.
I don’t have protein powder or coconut flour. Is it necessary for the recipe?
Hi Chel, I would recommend oat flour!
This nutrition is for 1 piece? Thanks
Hi Sanja, yes, the info is for one twix cup. Thank you!
Amazing recipe and very tasty….Highly recommended 👌
Hi Maria, glad you liked them and thanks for trying them out!
2nd recipe from your website that I’ve made today and 2nd hit! Absolutely delicious, thank you!
Hi Tessa, thank you so much for trying out both recipes! Glad they were winners!
Can you use avocoda oil instead
HI Tracey, yes avocado oil is a neutral flavored oil and can be used!
is that’s 13g of Carbohydrates per cup?
Can you use avocoda oil instead
Hi Tracey, absolutely yes!
family loved it!
thank you
HI Brenda, Glad the cups were enjoyed by all!
I just made this and it tastes legit just like a Twix bar! One of my favorite candy bars of all time, but sadly, I do not eat anymore. I love this healthy version and it is now going to be a regular treat for our family. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Ursula, me too – I ate a few Twix in my younger years! Love these they are so close to the original.!!!
This recipe looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it! Can muffin tin liners be used?
Hi Mia, yes absolutely use liners!!!
These are delicious and so easy! Big hit, thank you!
Hi Katherine – so glad they were enjoyed! Thanks for the sweet message!
Just wanted to clarify the total amount this recipe makes, is it 18 or 24? Thanks so much! I just made them & did it for 18, but I had leftover caramel. Can’t wait to try them.
Hi Jenn, Mine made 18 mini cups~
I made these today, and although they tasted great, my bottom crumbled and none of them stayed whole. Would replacing the olive oil with melted coconut oil help hold them together since coconut oil is solid at room temp?
Hi Karla, I’m not sure why that happened… but oil is oil. You can use any neutral oil here you like!
Same thing happened to me 🙁
These are SO GOOD. Granted my kids rejected them on the basis of “there is peanut butter” and “it looks sticky” respectively, but I don’t really care because that means I get more of them!
I did make some substitutions:
– regular white flour because I didn’t have coconut. This made them not gluten free but I’m ok with that.
– coconut oil instead of olive oil. I thought this would make up for not having coconut flour, in the taste department. Besides, I just really like how it does in sweet recipes.
Hi Naomi, thanks so much for sharing your feedback with us – super helpful! And thanks for the kind rating!
Looks delicious. Can I use coconut oil instead of olive oil?
HI Veronica, absolutely yes – any neutral flavored oil works here!
I made these . My conclusion is yum .
I’m not vegan but am soon going to a grandchild’s 1 st birthday soon . There will be many vegans there so I wanted to make a delicious after dinner snack bite everyone can enjoy . Easy to make too . Thanks for the recipe. 🤩
Hi Joanne, glad you liked them and I’m certain everyone at the party will too! Have a great time!!!
Yum
yes!!
Could you make this in a 8×8 instead and have bars from it? Sounds delicious!
Hi Kelle, either that pan or maybe a 9×5 loaf pan would work better….
I did make some in a small round which did fine but I should have scored the chocolate so the pieces looked nicer when cut.
This sounds great! Any substitute for the maple syrup? Trying to lower the carbs.
Hi Deanna, Agave i think is lower in sugar but I know they make zero sugar maple syrup too!
Would love to make these what can you use to substitute the maple syrup that would lower the sugar content
Hi Erika, You can use agave or they make no sugar maple syrup now…
Fabulous! Wowzer!!!
Hi Avie, glad you liked them! Thanks for the rating!
Can we use something other than almond flour due to an allergy?
You can use oat flour ….
Very easy to make and is absolutely delicious. Eating one (or 6) straight out of the freezer really gives it that chewy caramel texture and shortbread crunch.
Excellent recipe, excellent flavour
Hi Summer, Glad you enjoyed the treats! And thanks for taking the time to comment on the recipe!
What vegan chocolate did you use please?.
Hi Bing, I use ENJOY LIFE brand chocolate chips – they are dairy free!
hello,
can you use almond butter instead of peanut butter?
HI Kelly, absolutey yes!!!
How long can these stay good without being in the refridgerator, and in the refridgerator
Hi Grace they start to melt after 15 minutes of being out of the freezer.
These are very good. Not overly sweet but they hit the spot when you want something like a Twix but cannot have the sugar. Or you just want to eat healthier.
Can I use regular all purpose flour? I would like to use homemade caramel in placeof making as caranel layer.
These look amazing! I am going to make them today! Is that some sort of sugar sprinkled on top of the finished product?
how many carbs if I substitute sugarfree maple flavored syrup instead of real maple?
I replaced the maple syrup with agave foot less calories and fat and used avocado oil instead of olive. Additionally, i used dairy free chocolate chips melted with coconut oil. Simply divine! Thanks for this recipe!!
Oh. My. God. These are amazingly simple and delicious! I wish I could post a photo, because they’re beautiful too!!!
Amazing !
I missed the “mini” part so I only got 6 regular sized ones but will definitely make again !
Is there a healthier substitute for the oil?
Hi I’m about to make these and I noticed that it saws to put the caramel ingredients in a small bowl and whisk. Then it says to let it cool. What does it mean cool?
Did they mean to say small bowl or small sauce pan? Thank you
I haven’t had a chance to make these yet but I’m so excited! I’m curious about the tops. It looks like maybe there are salt flakes on top but it’s not in the recipe. Are there salt flakes on top?
Yes there is flaky Maldon sea salt on these added when the chocolate is melted 🤍
If only I could show you my photo ! I put them in mini paper cups. After finished, I let chill a bit then added a very skinny drizzle of chocolate scribble over them all. Then added the bigger salt ground. Looks amazing!! Thank you!
I made with Almond butter to be Paleo friendly and were an amazing treat!
Hi Sara, yes amazing with almond butter too! Thanks for trying them!
Delicious!! These will be on a regular rotation in our house!
Hi Gianna, i’m so glad its a winner for you!
I couldn’t find almond flour so made it with ground almonds instead. Works perfectly and they keep disappearing out of the freezer 🤣
Hi Helen, same thing happened at my house – poof gone lol
Can i use a regular muffin tin instead of the mini ones? If so, how many do you think it would make? (So that i know how much to fill). Thanks!!
Hi Shevy, I would suspect it would make about one third the amount as in the mini muffins.
Can regular unbleached flour be used instead of almond flour?
Best sub for a non-nut butter? Allergy. Thx
Hi Ellen, i would do sunflower seed butter or tahini!
They are absolutely 💯 amazing.
Again I love your recipes…you ROCK girl!!!
thank you ❤️
HI Sofia, you rock too! Thanks for the kind feedback!
These were excellent and are close enough to a Twix bar to manage the craving 😊 They look just like the pic. These would be good to have around to help folks stay out of their kids Halloween candy: I know I could have used it back in the day. Mine are going on vaca, so that I can have treats without completely going off the deep end.❤️
It seems important to bake the full twelve minutes and cool completely before adding the caramel layer. Also I dabbed my finger in water to help level the top of the caramel layer since it’s ooey gooey😋
HI Chris, yes,I agree with you that they are perfect for Halloween! Thanks for trying them.. I appreciate your feedback as well!
AMAZING
HI Lana, thanks for trying them!
Damn dang delicious. It’s a yes from me. So impressed.
Hi Shelbe, glad you liked the dessert!
So good you’ll need to keep the ingredients around for when you eat them all in one sitting
Agreed! Must haves!
Damn dang delicious!
Did you use a 12 or 24 cup muffin tray for these? The recipe says 18 servings…
Hi Jill, its a mini muffin tray with 24 slots
