3 Ingredient Pitas (Flatbread Recipe)
These low calorie, high protein pitas are the answer to your quick flatbread needs.
Super soft and simple to make – no yeast required. Music to my ears. I love making these pitas in a pinch when I don’t want to wait around for dough to rise. There are only three common ingredients in this recipe that I always have them on hand.
Feel free to use gluten free flour in this recipe. Also, MAKE SURE YOU ROLL OUT THE ROUNDS AS THIN AS POSSIBLE; it is integral to get them cooked to perfection. I also tried air frying these and they worked out amazing!

3 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Pitas (Flatbread)
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3¾ tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1½ cups 0% or 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- Optional Dip: Lazy Tzatziki
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in the yogurt with a wooden spoon and then use your hands to form TWO large dough balls.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and slice each ball into 4 equal parts. IMPORTANT: Roll out each piece into a THIN circle or oval shape. You can use a round plate to outline the circle and then use a pizza cutter to cut away the edges. (This is only if you want a perfect circle shaped pita. Take the extra pieces you cut away and combine them together and form more pitas).
- Lightly drizzle a cast iron pan with olive oil and heat on medium to medium high. Transfer one pita to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown patches appear. Repeat with remaining dough. YOU CAN ALSO AIR FRY THESE PITAS: 400°F for 12-14 minutes – flipping halfway through.
Notes
You can use this same recipe to make pizza crust, bagels, etc.
You can use gluten free all purpose flour too. I haven’t tried almond flour but it might work with the addition of some eggs.

Easy and delicious! My kids love them!
Could these be used for mini pizzas? As in, flatbread pizzas?
HI Jenny, yes, i’ve made this dough into small pizza crusts.. loved it!
thank you! I usually buy Naan bread for pizzas but would love to make these to save money and cook at home!
Yes for sure, l sliced dry salami and added cheese and then baked in oven long enough for cheese to melt. Was so delicious 😋.
Easy recipe that I modified by rolling everything bagel seasoning on to each round – Delicioso!
These freeze so we’ll too.
Would rice flour work?
Possible but I havent tried it…
I was scared to make these but OMG they were so easy and soooo good! My family has requested me to make them regularly!
Delicious 😋
Making any bread product always scares me but these were so easy and taste delicious!!!! My family loved them and asked for more. They were easy to make ahead and I will definitely double next time so I can have leftovers!
Loved this idea but the recipe did not work out great for me. I had to add about an additional half-3/4 a cup of yogurt to get the dough to come together. I would use less flour next time.
Hi Brittany, I’m so sorry the recipe didnt work for you!! Sometimes the flour brands play a role. some are dryer than others. Also the moisture in the yogurt makes a difference too.
Tonight I tried this recipe and I loved it. Thanks for shar
I made the 3 ingredient pitas with Bobs Red Mill gluten free. This is my second note on this. I made them this morning. Not puffy at all , very dense. Even with 3 tsps baking powder hardly any lift at all. Edible but like hockey pucks. The guys won’t eat these with the burgers tonight They’ll eat the store bought. Using the GF lately and not at all Happy with the results.
Generally like your recipes a lot . Xo
These look delish! Would it be possible to make them dairy free? Excited to find your site. Everything looks amazing!!
I’m using Bobs Red Mill gluten free flour. 1 tsp xanthan gum/cup of flour. Dough was very dry would not come together. I added 2 tbs half and half to bring it together. That worked. Oops, I used full fat Fage. We’ll see what happens.
This is a game changer for me! I love them. They are extremely easy to make and have a wonderful chew. I will make and use them for tapas, pizzas, toast, etc. Thank you so so much @hungryhappens!
Do we have to rest the dough for a few minutes?? Or can we make the pitas right away?? Thank you!!
Right away. No resting or refrigeration required. They’re fantastic!
Nice and simple! I really liked the flavor, though they were a bit too dense/heavy for my preference when fried in a cast iron. They puffed up fairly well though when baked in the oven – it’s also easier to cook up a full batch at once this way.
Kids couldn’t get enough of these so they’ll definitely stay as part of our rotation. Thanks for sharing!
Hi! I made this last night.
The dough is not stretchy and fluffy…what should I add?
Hi Van, This dough is not going to be stretchy or fluffy.
