3 Ingredient Pitas (Flatbread Recipe)
These low calorie, high protein pitas are the answer to your quick flatbread needs.
Super soft and simple to make – no yeast required. Music to my ears. I love making these pitas in a pinch when I don’t want to wait around for dough to rise. There are only three common ingredients in this recipe that I always have them on hand.
Feel free to use gluten free flour in this recipe. Also, MAKE SURE YOU ROLL OUT THE ROUNDS AS THIN AS POSSIBLE; it is integral to get them cooked to perfection. I also tried air frying these and they worked out amazing!

3 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Pitas (Flatbread)
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3¾ tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1½ cups 0% or 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- Optional Dip: Lazy Tzatziki
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in the yogurt with a wooden spoon and then use your hands to form TWO large dough balls.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and slice each ball into 4 equal parts. IMPORTANT: Roll out each piece into a THIN circle or oval shape. You can use a round plate to outline the circle and then use a pizza cutter to cut away the edges. (This is only if you want a perfect circle shaped pita. Take the extra pieces you cut away and combine them together and form more pitas).
- Lightly drizzle a cast iron pan with olive oil and heat on medium to medium high. Transfer one pita to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown patches appear. Repeat with remaining dough. YOU CAN ALSO AIR FRY THESE PITAS: 400°F for 12-14 minutes – flipping halfway through.
Notes
You can use this same recipe to make pizza crust, bagels, etc.
You can use gluten free all purpose flour too. I haven’t tried almond flour but it might work with the addition of some eggs.

omg this recipe was so satisfying! so easy to make and an absolute joy to see the pitas bubbling up in the pan! My boyfriend and I make a new recipe from your page every week and this has been our favourite so far!
I’m about to make a new batch and see how they freeze…they didn’t make it to the freezer last time 🤣
HI Beth, LOL that’s the story of my life – we eat EVERYTHING with no leftovers in sight! Thank you for trying out our recipes and I’m so happy they resonate with you guys! Best regards!!
I made this with cup 4 cup (gluten free) flour and they were incredible! It’s hard to find gluten free alternatives so I’m grateful to add these into the mix. Also, so simple to make. Thank you!
These are really good! I struggled to get them rolled out thin enough, so resorted to using a tortilla press. They still puffed up perfectly in the cast iron skillet. These will be a regular staple as a gluten free option. Thank you!
Is the nutritional information for one serving or for the total amount the recipe makes?
Although l had to add more yogurt than recipe called for l found this flat bread very easy to make. Personally liked the dense texture. After frying l brushed with olive oil, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese and put in oven for a few minutes. 😋
Used leftovers to make pizza with sliced salami and cheese. Will definitely be making again.
This easy and tasty. I put za’atar seasoning from Trader Joe’s on top and it was a hit. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to try more recipes.
Can you make dough ahead of time and leave in refrigerator?
Flatbread looks delicious. Your recipe makes 8 breads therefore, just wondering if your nutritional values are per flatbread. Looking forward to making them soon.
Hi Michelle, Thank you!! With the leftover pieces from cutting them into rounds, it comes out to 10 pitas total.
loved these. my 20 month old is so picky right now. i made These as an after daycare snack and she devoured them! all of us did. very yummy!
Hi Jenna, glad the baby enjoyed especially!!! love!!
Hi is it 156 calories per pita?
Hi Alexandra, the nutritional info is per pita.
Hi. It says 10 servings but in the recipe it says 2 dough balls cut into 4 pieces each. So that’s 8 pieces. So wouldn’t that be 8 servings?
Hi Belinda, the extra pieces that I cut off the edges made the two extra pitas!
Oooops! I have 5% Fage Yogurt. Will it work?
Can we freeze these as raw dough balls and just pull out when we need a couple of pitas?
I didn’t have 0% yogurt and had to add LOTS more flour so the dough was workable. Do you think it was the extra moisture from the yogurt? Still came out delicious!
my whole family adores these – 2 toddlers nibbling on them whilst i finish cooking the rest 🙂
Hi Stella, I’m trying to avoid 30 G Carb! that’s more than I eat in several days. Only 7 protein and 1 g fiber… not being difficult but how does this qualify as Keto….so much out there on what is and isn’t Keto – very confusing.
Thanks, Brendalynn
I don’t think she said these were keto friendly. Some people don”dirty keto” like myself and I limit my carbs to 20-30 a day. It works for me. I would try using almond flour, that’s what I’m going to try
