Easy 2 Ingredient Sourdough Bread Rolls (Kefir Rolls)
Kefir is one of the most probiotic rich foods. Kefir is a fermented milk product made from a cow, goat or sheep milk that is similar to a drinkable yogurt. It has high levels of probiotics and its content varies based on the cows and cultures where it is produced. Milk kefir has many of the same components of sourdough and thus works great to use as a sourdough starter.
The bacteria and yeasts in your bread roll starter will be the same as in your milk kefir. If you don’t have self rising flour, substitute in the following: 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour + 2 1/4 tsp aluminum-free baking powder + 1/2 tsp salt.
Depending on the brand of flour you use, the dough may be sticky and require more flour. Simply add in 2 tablespoons at a time of flour to create a manageable dough. Section it off into 9 small rolls and flatten slightly on your pan.
You can decorate these sourdough rolls with sesame seeds, Everything Bagel Seasoning, poppy seeds. If you like this recipe, you’ll love my 2 Ingredient Quick Bread Rolls or my 2 Ingredient Yogurt Bread.
