These low carb onion ring chips are made with only 2 primary ingredients! They’re perfect for those onion ring cravings.
When I was a little girl, I loved getting onion rings at my dad’s diner. Now that I’m older I make these 2 ingredient onion ring chips and love every bite! They are super low carb and 100 percent delicious.

This onion ring recipe is super straightforward. Slice your onion THIN into 1/4 inch rounds using a mandoline. Try to keep them intact rounds as you can see in the photo above. Sprinkle the parchment lined medium sized baking sheet with the shredded parmesan. You can also use a combination of parmesan and mozzarella here.

Lightly brush or spray the onion rings with olive oil – do not over saturate the onions. Seasoning is also simple with some salt, garlic powder and paprika for color. Make sure you are using PARCHMENT PAPER for this recipe. Many readers feedback are using wax paper or aluminum foil and their food gets stuck onto the paper or foil.

We warm these up all the time if there are ever any leftovers. These will also serve great within a sandwich or as a burger topping!

The ideal chip deserves an equally delicious dip. That’s why we made my Lazy Tzatziki Dip for these onion ring chips. You can also make a combination of mayo, sriracha and lime juice. My husband showed me this video and I ran right out and pre-ordered your book! These look absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Kim, you are awesome! Thanks to you and your hubby for the support! Its truly appreciated!
These are super 😊😊😊😊😊
HI Carole, Yay! I’m so glad you liked them!
Delicious and so easy to make! Thank you for sharing!
HI Leda, thank you so much for trying out the recipe! <3
Why do people do this? It is NOT a 2 ingredient recipe. There are 6 ingredients listed.
Jesus are you always this pedantic? chill out bro
I’ve tried this recipe twice now for my wife, she’s says they taste good but I cannot get them to crisp up, just stay very wet and soggy. Any ideas?
Hi Ryan, make sure they are sliced thin!
Sounds like the onions should be sliced thinner than 1/4inch?
Can you use grated Parmesan cheese or does it have to be shredded?
HI Heather, that should work!
I’m going to try it tonight, but put a jalapeño in the middle of em
Hi Ron, brilliant idea! I hope you liked them!
these are not low carbs they have 10 g of carbs per half cup serving
glad you spoke up about the carbs. when I was on keto onions were very limited because they are higher in carbs by nature. With that said I plan on making them because they look delicious 😋
I’d be nterested to see where you get you carb count from as you’ve nothing to back up your statement!
10 carbs in a ½ cup serving IS most definitely low carb. Most low carb recipes aim for 50 . 10 is well within that range!
this is so fast and easy. i love onions so i”m sure i will like these. thank you
I made these last night and loved them. I sliced my onions a little too thin, so the Parmesan was the dominant flavor. The taste was still great and an awesome snack for those of us dieting and not eating the bread coated onion rings! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Mary, I’m so glad you tried them and liked them! Thanks for coming back to leave your feedback too!
oh my goodness! these were DELICIOUS!!
HI Jen, thats awesome! thanks for trying the recipe!
How did you get the whole lot to not stick to the parchment?
HI Gina, the main reason why i use parchment paper is so that the food doesn’t stick to the pan. I’ve never used parchment and had a sticking problem.
Make sure that you’re using PARCHMENT paper and not WAX paper. They look alike but are NOT the same, I just made that mistake😅
Oh my goodness….Unbelievable delicious! I only made one large onion and wish I had made 3-4 as they were just about the best “onion rings” I’ve ever eaten! I used salt pepper and granulated garlic as the seasoning, and didn’t use a dip. I let them get very brown and caramelized in the oven. My two guests loved them and we all said we wished I had made more! This recipe is a keeper!
HI Sherry, Thank you so much for sharing with friends! They sound so delicious!
A 2 ingredient recipe should include only 2 ingredients in the recipe
The recipe clearly states 2 “primary” ingredients, or did you conveniently forget to read that part?
I made them with just the onions and parmesan and they were so good! Then I tried with a combo of spices and they were great, just different. I think I preferred just the onions and parm if I had to pick.
Salt, pepper and olive oil are always not included in a two ingredient recipe. It’s a given free ingredient.
The onions were no where near done at 18 mins. At 30 mins I took them out and they aren’t done. Maybe in an air fryer with the cheese on top? This recipe just doesn’t work.
I had the same issue, 20 mins at 400 came out with the Parmesan burnt and the onions under done…
Sounds like maybe you sliced your onion too thick? I have made these three times and they come out perfect every time around the 20 mark in the oven.
can we use an air fryer?
Yes! less time though – air fryers tend to cook faster though so keep that in mind
