3 Ingredient Pitas (Flatbread Recipe)
These low calorie, high protein pitas are the answer to your quick flatbread needs.
Super soft and simple to make – no yeast required. Music to my ears. I love making these pitas in a pinch when I don’t want to wait around for dough to rise. There are only three common ingredients in this recipe that I always have them on hand.
Feel free to use gluten free flour in this recipe. Also, MAKE SURE YOU ROLL OUT THE ROUNDS AS THIN AS POSSIBLE; it is integral to get them cooked to perfection. I also tried air frying these and they worked out amazing!

3 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Pitas (Flatbread)
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 3¾ tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1½ cups 0% or 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- Optional Dip: Lazy Tzatziki
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in the yogurt with a wooden spoon and then use your hands to form TWO large dough balls.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and slice each ball into 4 equal parts. IMPORTANT: Roll out each piece into a THIN circle or oval shape. You can use a round plate to outline the circle and then use a pizza cutter to cut away the edges. (This is only if you want a perfect circle shaped pita. Take the extra pieces you cut away and combine them together and form more pitas).
- Lightly drizzle a cast iron pan with olive oil and heat on medium to medium high. Transfer one pita to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown patches appear. Repeat with remaining dough. YOU CAN ALSO AIR FRY THESE PITAS: 400°F for 12-14 minutes – flipping halfway through.
Notes
You can use this same recipe to make pizza crust, bagels, etc.
You can use gluten free all purpose flour too. I haven’t tried almond flour but it might work with the addition of some eggs.

How to store unmade pita dough that has been rolled out? or how to store made ones? They were delicious.
This really looks good and easy! Can I sub whole wheat flour for the regular flour?
Hi Sue, thank you!
I havent tried it with whole wheat myself so I cant guarantee the results!
Hi Stella, for 2 people how should this recipe be divided?
I am fussy about pitas. These were DELISH! I was very skeptical. I grew more so when the dough wasn’t cooperative. (Another spoon of yogurt did the trick!) I made mine on the stove top. I don’t know if I will have enough now for you stove top chicken gyro recipe!! lol AMAZING!! Heavenly!!!
Super easy! Loved it. So easy to customize too. Want to add spices the sky isn’t the limit. Will keep this as a staple at home.
Hi Nirely, yes indeed! Thanks for trying the recipe out!
Airfrying burnt my pita at 400 for 12-14 min w a flip. Then I reduced to 9 min and still too crispy. Do you mean “roast” setting on the air fryer?
Hey! is the nutrition based on one pita or the whole thing?
One pita!
This recipe is so easy. I was worried about the dough because it was on the shaggy side but the pita came out absolutely amazing. It tastes good all by itself but I used it to make a little mini pita pizza. This is going into my rotation for sure please make this!! Thank you Stella <3
this was amazing yummy
I was surprised how good these were. I wasn’t expecting much from a quick recipe but holy cow! these were amazing!!
This recipe is soooo good thank you. I did try this with arrowroot flour and with addition of two eggs it did perfectly, however it came out a tad thinner.
what cooking unit do you suggest if I made this dough into a pizza dough. oven, still stove top etc. and what temp. Please advise 🥰
Thank you!
Hello, can you cut them and fill them? Do they rise rhat much?
These were a hit, thank you! I loved them and I don’t even like bread. Will definitely make again. I added garlic powder to mine.

Great and easy ❤️ I tried the recipe but I run out of Greek yogurt or sour cream at the time but had cottage cheese so I blended until smooth like yogurt and used with a tablespoon of olive oil . The result was incredible good ! My family loved them and said they’re addictive . Thank you so much for sharing your recipes 🙏🏻
