Of course, the cream cheese is the best part of the brownie. Its creamy and sweet and elevates the dessert. The base is also awesome with only a few bananas for sweetness, so you may want to add a little maple syrup for added sweetness.

My basic tip for this recipe is to start with the cream cheese layer in your food processor and then mix the brownie layer. This is a bit counter-intuitive but the brownie layer is harder to clean out from the food processor than the cream cheese (and also darker in color).

Brownie Layer:

Cream Cheese Swirl:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, room temp
  • 1/4 cup granulated sweetener of choice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 375℉. Line a small 6×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a small food processor, combine the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla and pulse until smooth. Transfer to a small bowl.
  • Rinse and wipe down the bowl of the food processor then add in bananas, almond butter, cacao powder and salt. Pulse until incorporated and smooth. Transfer the brownie layer to your baking dish and smooth out the top with a rubber spatula. Dollop on the cream cheese mixture all over. Use a toothpick to swirl around. Drop on the chocolate chips evenly all over. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean!
  • Allow the brownies to set in the pan for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to fully cool prior to slicing. Store leftovers in fridge in an air tight container.

Please Note: the brownie base is only sweetened by the bananas so make sure they are ripened. Also add a little maple syrup or honey if you want a sweeter end product.
