Healthy Banana Oatmeal Bread (5 Ingredients)
I’m always on the lookout for quick simple snacks that require very few ingredients that are all whole and you probably already have in your kitchen. This definitely hits those spots.
I’m going to greatly stress to you that this is not a traditional banana bread recipe. As you can tell from the ingredient list, it contains a very minimal amount of sweetener. If you would like a traditional banana bread recipe, please check out my delicious Super Moist Banana Bread. You will not be disappointed.
What you can do, is toss in sugar free chocolate chips, nuts, raisins or seeds to add some flavor. To finish this snack off, I like to serve it with some almond or peanut butter spread on top. Again, this is a protein and nutrient dense snack. And comes together so quickly in your blender or food processor. You can also use oat flour and mix the ingredients in a bowl.

Healthy Banana Oatmeal Bread
Equipment
Ingredients
- 3 medium bananas, over ripe
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
Optional Add Ins:
- 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1/2 cup chopped dates or raisins
Instructions
- PLEASE NOTE: This is not a traditionally sweet banana bread. There is minimal sweetener used here. This is a healthy breakfast or snack.
- Preheat oven to 350° F and line a 9×5" loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Add all of the ingredients, in the order above, to your blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Mixture will be liquidy and that's okay.
- Pour the batter into your pan and bake for around 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out mostly clean. Allow bread to cool in the pan at least 20 minutes prior to transferring to cooling rack. And then allow to cool another 20 minutes prior to slicing.
This was so easy and good! I added choc chips, but I think it would’ve been better w raisins. I love chocolate, but it didn’t seem to go w this bread. I will def make again
I very much enjoyed this recipe. I added frozen blueberries to one batch and it turned out great. I added protein powder to the other batch and it was also delicious. I cooked the blueberry one about 20 mins longer (by accident); both turned out great. I enjoy them sliced and toasted. Blessings! ~Nichole
Hi Nichole, Sounds delicious with blueberry! And I appreciate the feedback with the protein powder too! Super helpful
I have followed this recipe to the dot but without success.
After 40 minutes on 350° F in the oven the bread is not ripe and still spongy.
I have left it in the oven for an hour and even then its not quite good.
Where am I going wrong?
Hello Nichole, may I ask how much protein powder did you add to the batter ?
Did it still come out moist?
Just made it this morning for breakfast with some frozen bananas I had on hand. It is excellent and very filling, thank you.
Hi Laurelie, I’m so glad you liked it!
Love this recipe, have been making it every week, great snack! Added the vanilla & cinnamon also, perfect to have when those hungry attacks hit!
Truly great recipe. Added some raisins and ground flaxseed too. Loved by both my husband and I. Thank you.
I make this bread often, usually with reduced maple syrup, chopped/ground walnuts, vanilla, and cinnamon. But today I removed all of the maple syrup and used 1 tbsp Penzeys sweet curry instead of the usual cinnamon. Game changer. More of a savory bread with a hint of kick. Topped with a smear of labneh. Highly recommended.
HI Shanna, thanks for the feedback!
Could I add unflavored protein powder to boost the protein per serving?
Hello, do you have to use baking soda/baking powder in this and can you sub maple syrup for coconut oil or nut butter etc. thank you
Great recipe and so easy to make!
Thanks for trying it!
Hi wanting to reduce the calories is there another alternative for maple syrup or maybe half the maple syrup and replace other half with fewer calories
Great recipe! I had 3 very ripe bananas on hand and this was the perfect use for them 🙂 If I’d had chocolate chips I would have added them, but I just added cinnamon and it was delicious and moist!
Thank you Ann!
All of ur recipes look delicious.
Thank you Reggie!
This was really easy and turned out so well!!
This turned delicious and most important not too sweet. I only had 2 ripe bananas and added walnuts, cinnamon and splash of vanilla extract – awesome!! Love that this recipe had no flour or oils, thank you!!
Hi Elizabeth, that’s great! I’m glad you liked the loaf!
So yummy. It was just the right amount of sweetness. Of course I included all of your suggested add-ins… cinnamon, vanilla, sliced almonds (didn’t have walnuts), and sprinkled a few chocolate chips on top before baking. Really great recipe, thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Hi
What’s the measurement in weight for a cup of oats
Excellent. Added sunflower butter, cinnamon, hemp seeds and chocolate chips. Next time I’ll try it without chocolate chips. Quick and easy recipe! Thank you!
Hi Bre, I need to try these add ins!
