Easy Skillet Greek Chicken Thighs
Whoever has tried these Greek chicken thighs has been impressed. I’m impressed by how easy they are to make and the outcome that follows. The juiciest and most tender chicken for very little work and ingredients. It truly is the magic of the Greek yogurt
I only left this to marinate for 1 hour and the results were outstanding. I would not let it marinate overnight but rather up to 6 hours. The acidity from the yogurt could dry out the chicken meat if left overnight.
I would pair this with any of my salads but especially my Dakos Salata or my Maroulosalata!

Easy Skillet Greek Chicken Thighs
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tsp each garlic powder, onion powder, salt to taste
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 small lemon, juiced
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ tsp dried oregano
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbs olive oil
Serve with Optional + Recommended:
- Lemon wedges
- Tzatziki for dipping
Instructions
- Pat your chicken dry then season with salt, garlic powder and onion powder on both sides, GENEROUSLY.
- In a large bowl, mix the yogurt, lemon, garlic, dried oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Add the chicken to the bowl and coat the meat. Allow to sit in this mixture, covered in your fridge, for at least 30 minutes or up to 6 hours.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil on medium, per batch in a large skillet. SCRAPE OFF MOST OF THE YOGURT FROM YOUR CHICKEN. Transfer to your skillet and cook on medium heat until golden brown – about 7 minutes per side. Lower the heat if the meat begins to turn too brown and you still need more cook time.
- Top with some fresh lemon juice and serve!
Made is earlier for dinner! My kids love them! Thank you for sharing your recipes!
This was the 3rd recipe I tried on this site. Couldn’t believe how easy this was and my kids loved it. Will be trying some of the other recipes on this site. Was skeptical about the yogurt but had nice flavor. I didn’t have plain yogurt and wasn’t sure what to use. I used coconut flavored Greek yogurt. Came out great.
Easy and so delicious!! My favorite kind of recipe!
Hi Nora, glad you liked them!! Thanks for the rating!
Hello! Can I substitute chicken breast? I always have chicken breast in the freezer.
I don’t see why not. I will 😊
Super easy and delish! Good tip to cook on lower heat.
My whole family loved this which never happens! We will make it again for sure. Thank you so much for this amazing recipe.
Hi, could you cook this chicken in the air fryer after it’s marinated? Thank you.
Corinne
Hi there! What does marinating in the yogurt actually do to the chicken? (Since you’re scraping most of it off)… thanks!
Hi Molly, great question! The yogurt tenderizes the meat in this process. Its got acid in it similar to buttermilk. And that soak or marinate make the meat so soft!
The flavor!!! This came out absolutely delicious. Definitely will be going in the rotation…it also transported me back to a Greek island in the sun 🙂 thank you for the recipe!
Heyyy! That’s awesome for the mini vacation haha love it! Thanks for the kind rating too!
